Two children and a man discovered deceased in Northland residence following fire response

Three individuals, including two young children and a man, were discovered deceased in a residence in Northland on Thursday evening. The police are currently treating their deaths as a homicide.

At approximately 9:45 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 1000 block of NW 91st Terrace for a welfare check.

Upon their arrival, the officers immediately initiated an inspection of the exterior of the residence. It was during this process that they detected the unmistakable scent of smoke permeating from inside the house.

Additionally, they observed visible signs of smoke within the premises, further confirming their suspicions.

The officers initially entered the home, but they had to retreat because of the fire.

The Kansas City Fire Department swiftly extinguished the fire as requested by the police.

Tragically, the police discovered a young boy with a gunshot wound. They quickly rushed him to a nearby hospital, but despite their efforts, he did not survive.

A man was discovered inside the residence with a gunshot injury. Sadly, he passed away at the location.

According to the Kansas City Police Department spokesperson, Sgt. Phillip DiMartino, detectives are not currently seeking any suspects in the case. The cause of the violence is currently unknown.
