A woman from Rhode Island has been charged by Connecticut State Police in relation to a wrong-way collision that took place on July 27th in Killingly.

Meghan Wolfsberger, who is 36 years old, faced charges of operating under the influence, driving in the wrong direction on a divided highway, and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended registration.

Around 2 a.m., police were called to Exit 39 of Interstate 395 in Killingly where they discovered two cars with apparent damage.

According to the driver of the vehicle with a Connecticut registration, the other car suddenly pulled out from the right shoulder and executed a U-turn within the travel lanes, as per their statement to the police.

According to the driver, they couldn’t prevent the collision.

According to the police, Wolfsberger exhibited “signs of impairment,” which included the smell of alcohol. She also admitted to consuming alcohol.

Empty alcohol containers were reportedly discovered on the driver’s side during an investigation of her car.

After posting a $500 non-surety bond, Wolfsberger was released and is set to appear for arraignment on August 9th.
