MASON CITY — Mason City High lost 8-6 to Ankeny Centennial in game one of a doubleheader last night in Mason City, with game two being suspended due to lightning. Connor Dalen had three runs batted in to lead the Mohawks, who are now 19-14 and will travel to Des Moines Lincoln and Des Moines North on Wednesday.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Rookie Bailey Ober pitched five scoreless innings for his first major league victory, Max Kepler homered twice and the Minnesota Twins held off the Chicago White Sox 8-5. Ober hit the milestone in his seventh career start. He had seven strikeouts with two hits and three walks allowed. In two previous turns against the White Sox, Ober gave up nine runs in 7 1/3 innings. Kepler hit a two-run home run in the second. With an RBI single by Trevor Larnach and a two-run triple from Nick Gordon, the Twins built a 6-1 lead on White Sox starter Dylan Cease.

 

 

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — The Minnesota Wild have re-signed forward Nick Bjugstad to a one-year, $900,000 contract. The move brings back some depth up front. Bjugstad had six goals, 11 assists and a career-best plus-7 rating in 44 games this season. It was his first with his home-state team. The 28-year-old also had 48 hits and 22 blocked shots while playing both center and right wing. He had one goal in the playoff series against Vegas. Bjugstad became the 27th native of Minnesota to play in a game for the Wild.
