New York Anticipates Arrival of First Snowstorm in 2025

We might have to wait a while for the first snowstorm of 2025 in New York State.

According to early weather models, a significant storm is expected to affect the majority of the state on Monday, January 5th.

January has traditionally been the snowiest month of the year in New York State. If this weather model is accurate, it looks like we’ll be getting an early start to accumulating those snow totals.

In January, Western New York typically receives an average of 20-30 inches of snow. Similarly, in Central New York cities like Syracuse and Binghamton, the average snowfall ranges from 15 to 25 inches. Downstate areas like New York City usually see between 5 to 15 inches of snow during January.

This storm has the potential to create a solid base for achieving those totals in January 2025.
