Mississippi Governor Responds to Storm-Related Deaths and Injuries

Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves issued a statement regarding the recent severe weather that struck the state, resulting in fatalities and injuries.

According to the governor, one fatality and two injuries were reported in Adams County, with additional injuries reported in Franklin, Simpson, and Wayne counties.

Damage assessments are ongoing, with early reports indicating significant destruction in several counties, including DeSoto, Tunica, and Clay.

Approximately 65,000 residents are without power, a reduction from the initial 100,000 outages, with crews working to restore service. The governor expressed gratitude to emergency responders and other personnel for their efforts in assisting affected communities.

While ongoing recovery efforts are critical, challenges remain in addressing the widespread damage and ensuring timely restoration of services, especially in rural or hard-to-reach areas. However, the collaborative response from local and state agencies is an important step in the recovery process.
