Mason City police continue stabbing investigation

MASON CITY — The investigation continues into a stabbing incident last week in Mason City.

The Mason City Police Department says they were called shortly before 6:30 on Thursday night to the area of 15th Northeast and North Pennsylvania Avenue, where on arrival officers and paramedics provided medical assistance to a juvenile male and an adult male with multiple stab wounds. Both victims were transported to MercyOne North Iowa for emergency care.

Officers were able to identify the involved parties in this incident, with the others not being from Mason City, but were known associates to at least one of the stabbing victims. Police say the incident started as a dispute over property.

Police Chief Jeff Brinkley in a written statement says there’s not an ongoing threat to the community and the incident was not related to the homicide that happened earlier in the week in Mason City.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Mason City Police Department at 641-421-3636.
