MASON CITY — Mason City city officials say the road and sidewalk closures around the area of the Kirk Apartments will remain in place until further notice because of the hazards at the fire scene.

Closed are North Federal Avenue and the sidewalks along North Federal from 2nd Street Northeast to 3rd Street Northeast and from the Kirk Apartments across the street to the east up to the front of the businesses along Federal.

No entry or exit from the business fronts in those areas are allowed until further notice, and all business owners have been advised to use the rear entrance to conduct business out of, and the entrances facing Federal Avenue are emergency exits only.

The area from 2nd Street and Federal west to Enterprise Alley and businesses along 2nd Northwest is also restricted, with no entry or exit to those businesses off of 2nd Street until further notice.
