CHARLES CITY — Mason City and Charles City renew their US Highway 18 football rivalry tonight in Charles City. The Riverhawks are 1-1 after an opening week win against Fort Dodge then falling to Spencer last week. Senior quarterback Kale Hobart has passed for 599 yards and five touchdowns this season. Charles City is 0-2, falling to rivals New Hampton and Oelwein. You can hear the Mason City-Charles City game on AM-1300 KGLO starting with the Pritchard’s Pre-Game at about 7 o’clock with the kickoff from Comet Field scheduled for 7:30.

CLEAR LAKE — Clear Lake wraps up non-district play tonight hosting #8/1A Dike-New Hartford. The Lions will try to bounce back from a 27-16 loss at Algona last week. Coach Jared DeVries says despite the loss, he’s happy with the progress of his team heading into tonight’s game.

Like the Lions, Dike-New Hartford is 1-1 coming into the game after falling 17-14 to #3/A Grundy Center. DeVries knows this will be another challenge for his team.

You can hear the Clear Lake and Dike-New Hartford game on AM-1490/96.7-FM KRIB and kribam.com and watch it on the NFHS Network as well with the Pritchard’s Pre-Game Show starting at 6:15 with the kickoff from Lions Field starting at 7 o’clock.

MASON CITY — Newman looks to bounce back from last week’s loss to top-ranked West Hancock with their first home game of the season, hosting Belmond-Klemme in a non-district contest. The Knights beat the Broncos 47-0 in last year’s meeting. You can hear the Newman and Belmond-Klemme game on 93.9 The Country Moose and 939kia.com starting with the Pritchard’s Pre-Game at 6:45 with the kickoff scheduled for 7 o’clock.

IOWA CITY — Iowa quarterback Spencer Petras says Iowa State’s defense will try to confuse the Hawkeyes with some unique looks in the secondary. Despite a win in last year’s game Petras was only 11 of 21 through the air for 106 yards.

Petras says the Cyclones are different than a defense with a traditional four-man front.

Iowa State is looking to snap a six-game losing streak in the series. Cyclone sophomore receiver Jaylin Noel.

Noel says a key will be solving the Iowa defense.

Kickoff at Kinnick Stadium is scheduled for 3:05 on Saturday afternoon, with the pre-game at 1 o’clock on AM-1300 KGLO.
