CLEAR LAKE — Clear Lake enters Class 2A District 3 play tonight as they travel to Osage. The Lions are 1-2 after losses to Algona and Dike-New Hartford in the last two weeks. Coach Jared DeVries says his squad has hit the reset button heading into district play.

MASON CITY — Mason City wraps up non-district play tonight hosting Webster City. The Mohawks are 1-2 after a 35-0 win over Charles City last week, while the Lynx come in also with a 1-2 mark after losses to Humboldt and Waverly-Shell Rock. You can hear the Mason City-Webster City game on AM-1300 KGLO and kgloam.com with the kickoff scheduled for 7:30.

 

 

ST. ANSGAR — Newman travels to St. Ansgar in Class A District 2 play. Both teams are 2-1 on the season — the Knights beating Central Springs and Belmond-Klemme with a loss to top-ranked West Hancock, while the Saints lost their opener to Osage and followed it up with wins over West Fork and North Union. CLEAR LAKE — Ames finished first with host Clear Lake finishing second in the team races of the Clear Lake cross country invitational on Thursday at the Veterans Memorial Golf Course. The Little Cyclones won the girls title with 24 points, with Clear Lake finishing a distant second with 103 points, and Newman placing third with 109 points. Claire Helmers of Ames won the girls race in a time of 19:00. Katelyn Johnston of Osage was third in 19:43. Addison Doughan had Clear Lake’s best time, finishing fifth in 21:00. Maggie McBride had Newman’s best finish, ending eighth in 21:40. The Ames boys finished with 32 points, with the Lions runner-ups with 67, Forest City third with 99 and Newman fourth with 130. Riley Witt of St. Ansgar was the boys race winner in 16:25. Joey Ringo had Newman’s best finish, ending in seventh in 18:22. Joe Faber had the best Clear Lake time, finishing 10th in 18:25.
