Former Mason City School Board member announces run for Iowa House seat that covers Mason City

MASON CITY — A retired pharmacist has announced he’ll be seeking the Republican nomination for the House seat that will cover the Mason City area.

Doug Campbell was a pharmacist and entrepreneur who served on the Mason City School Board from 2015 to 2019. Campbell in a written release says strong leadership is crucial in these difficult times, and he’ll represent the people of District 59 with the same tenacity and energy as he did when on the school board.

The new House District 59 includes all of Mason City as well as the towns of Rock Falls, Swaledale, Rockwell and Dougherty.

If Campbell were to win the nomination, he would likely face incumbent Democrat Sharon Steckman in the November 2022 election.
