Fire damages Clear Lake duplex

CLEAR LAKE — A Clear Lake residential duplex was damaged by fire on Monday.

The Clear Lake Fire Department says they were dispatched shortly after 3:20 on Monday afternoon to 2101 and 2103 14th Avenue North to a property owned by the North Iowa Regional Housing Authority. On arrival, firefighters saw smoke with fire coming from a rear second story bedroom of one unit, with the second unit also having heavy smoke as well.

The occupants of the home safely evacuated the structure and no injuries were reported.

Damage to the building is estimated at $40,000, with the cause of the fire remaining under investigation.
