Clear Lake council approves FY 2022 budget

CLEAR LAKE — The Clear Lake City Council last night adopted the Fiscal Year 2022 budget that starts on July 1st.

Councilman Mike Callanan applauded the budget process.  “From my own involvement here applaud the process of municipal governments that set a budget and then work real hard to make that, and it can be amended within reason. I think that’s a very good process and I’m proud of being part of that.”

The proposed tax rate for the city will remain unchanged from its current rate of $9.70 per $1000 assessed valuation, marking six straight years where the city’s share of the tax rate has either declined or remained the same. The tax rate decreased from $10.54 to $10.04 in Fiscal Year 2017, dropped to $9.80 in Fiscal Year 2018, and declined to $9.70 starting in Fiscal Year 2019.
