Chilling Map Reveals US Areas Under Threat of under the sea by 2050 Due to Climate Change

A chilling map from Climate Central illustrates potential future scenarios where parts of the United States may be submerged underwater by 2050 due to rising sea levels attributed to climate change. The map forecasts sea level increases ranging from 2mm to 4mm.

Coastal regions are particularly at risk from these projected sea level rises. According to the map, extensive areas of New York and Los Angeles could face submersion within the next 25 years if current trends continue.

Additionally, New Jersey is expected to experience significant impacts from the rising sea levels as depicted in the map’s simulations.

By 2050, East Rutherford and surrounding areas are forecasted to drop below the annual flood level, marked in red on the map.

Meanwhile, portions of Texas, Florida, and California are all expected to be submerged by 2100 due to rising sea levels potentially pushing these areas below the high tide line.

The West Coast is also anticipated to undergo similar consequences. In California, the San Pablo Bay estuary could witness substantial increases in sea levels, resulting in significant areas being submerged.

These rising sea levels are expected to profoundly impact both human and animal life. According to the map, the Everglades National Park in Florida, which serves as a sanctuary for numerous species, is projected to be nearly entirely submerged.

Climate Central warns that New Orleans’ coastal region would bear the brunt of rising sea levels. Morgan City, home to approximately 11,000 residents, would face complete submersion if this scenario unfolds.
