Woman stabs herself after court hearing in Mason City

MASON CITY — Authorities say a woman stabbed herself during a court hearing at the Cerro Gordo County Courthouse on Tuesday morning.
According to the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Department, the incident happened shortly after 11 o’clock during a Drug Court hearing. A judge ruled that the woman be taken into custody and transported to the Cerro Gordo County Jail. That’s when the woman pulled out a weapon and started to stab herself in the leg and stomach.
The woman was taken to MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center where she was treated and later released to be taken to jail.
