Over 50 new cases of COVID-19 reported locally over the weekend

DES MOINES — Over 50 new cases of COVID-19 were identified in the listening area over the weekend but no new deaths were reported.

According to the Iowa Department of Public Health’s website, in the time period between midday Friday and midday Sunday, 51 new coronavirus cases were reported — 14 in Floyd; 12 in Cerro Gordo; six in Hancock; five each in Butler and Worth; four in Franklin; two each in Winnebago and Wright; and one in Kossuth.

That brings the area’s total since the start of the pandemic to 1866. 1055 of those 1866 cases have been reported since July 1st, or 56.5%.

32 more people have recovered in the area for a total of 1168, or 62.6%. Looking at the same weekend time period statewide — nine more deaths were reported for a total of 874; 1006 more COVID-19 cases were reported for a total of 45,481; 423 more people have recovered for a total of 32,926.
