Osage teen is new Iowa State Fair Queen

DES MOINES — An Osage teen has been crowned as the Iowa State Fair Queen.

18-year-old Mary Ann Fox represented Mitchell County in the Fair Queen competition. The daughter of Karl Fox and Kari McClure, Mary Ann was chosen out of the 102 contestants who participated in this year’s competition. All had been crowned queen of their respective county fairs prior to the State Fair.

Fox receives a $5000 scholarship from the Branstad-Reynolds Trust and a $3000 scholarship from the Iowa State Fair in addition to her crown, sash and trophy.

Judging in the Iowa State Fair Queen competition is based on personality, attitude, awareness, leadership, citizenship, contribution to community, overall appearance, charm and poise.
