Number of active COVID-19 cases rises by 55 over  the weekend

DES MOINES — 81 more cases of COVID-19 were reported over the weekend in our listening area. In the time from 11 o’clock Friday morning to 11 o’clock Sunday morning, 14 new cases were reported in Cerro Gordo County; 13 more in Mitchell; 12 each in Kossuth and Winnebago; eight in Floyd; six each in Franklin and Wright; five in Worth; four in Butler; and one in Hancock. That brings the area’s total since the start of the pandemic to 3099.

There are currently 699 active cases in the listening area as of 11 o’clock Sunday morning, 55 more than 11 o’clock on Friday morning. There’s 264 active cases in Cerro Gordo County, 84 in Mitchell, 78 in Winnebago, 60 in Kossuth, 58 in Wright, 54 in Floyd, 37 in Franklin, 24 in Worth, 22 in Butler, and 18 in Hancock.

26 more people have recovered in the listening area over the weekend, bringing the pandemic total to 2344.

Looking statewide: ten more deaths were reported over the weekend for a total now of 1218; 1607 more cases have been reported for a total of 74,361.
