North-central Iowa duo charged with Mason City storage unit burglary

MASON CITY — A pair of north-central Iowans were arrested on Friday after a burglary at a Mason City storage unit facility.

The Mason City Police Department says they were called shortly after 12:15 Friday morning to A1 Security Self Storage at 4067 South Federal for a report that two intruders were seen on a security camera on the property and possibly breaking into storage units. On arrival, officers located a storage unit missing a padlock, and when the unit was opened, two suspects were inside.

48-year-old Thomas Hitchcock of Mason City was charged with third-degree burglary, possession of burglar tools and violation of a no-contact order. 40-year-old Shelly Hitchcock of Rockwell was charged with third-degree burglary and was placed under arrest on a valid warrant.

The Mason City Police Department says they are continuing to investigate the incident and the public is requested to contact the department at 421-3636 if they have any other information related to this case.
