On Sunday, July 21, a Dollar General store located in Newark fell victim to an armed robbery, as per the authorities.

According to Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé, a man walked into Dollar General at 420 Springfield Avenue at 8:29 a.m. through the rear entrance on the right side. The perpetrator then proceeded to demand cash from the cashier, while gesturing that he had a handgun. In the process, he also assaulted the employee on her left side.

According to Fragé, the suspect was given a deposit bag containing $3,776.73 by the employee who opened the store’s safe. The suspect then left the store and headed northbound on South 6th Street after taking the money.

According to Fragé, the suspect stands at 5’7″ and weighs approximately 150 pounds. He was dressed in all-black attire, including a full ski mask that concealed his face and head, as well as black Nike AirForce sneakers with ankle straps.
