Mason City police ask for public’s help after shooting incident, victim not cooperating

MASON CITY — The Mason City Police Department is continuing their investigation into a shooting incident from late last week.

Lt. Rich Jensen says at about 3:30 on Friday afternoon, police were summoned to the MercyOne Medical Center North Iowa emergency room for a person who was being treated for a gunshot wound. Officers found the victim did not sustain life-threatening injuries.

The subsequent investigation revealed that the shooting happened in the 400 block of 1st Northeast while the victim was a passenger in a vehicle. The driver of the vehicle immediately drove to the hospital to get the passenger treated.

An investigation was made at the scene with the driver of the vehicle fully cooperating with the investigation, but the victim is not cooperating.
