Mason City man in custody after failing to show up for court hearing

MASON CITY — A Mason City man who failed to show up for a court hearing on an intimidation with a dangerous weapon charge has been jailed.

A criminal complaint accuses 30-year-old Dylan Mitchell of being inside a building at 516 6th Northwest late on the night of October 19th where he discharged a handgun several times and then changed the magazine and shot a couple of more times. A victim also inside the building says she felt she was in danger of being seriously hurt during the incident.

Mitchell was due in court late last month, but a warrant was issued for his arrest on February 8th after an alleged no-contact order violation.

In a separate case, Mitchell was charged earlier this year with first-degree theft after allegedly being in control of a stolen vehicle in December 2020.

Mitchell was taken into custody on Sunday according to Cerro Gordo County Jail records. He’s being held on a total of $15,000 bond.
