Central Iowa women jailed after pursuit in Franklin, Cerro Gordo counties

HAMPTON — A central Iowa woman is in jail after a high speed chase through north-central Iowa on Monday.

Authorities say 25-year-old Mina Youngbear of Toledo was spotted driving a vehicle that was leaving a known drug house in the 300 block of 5th Southwest in Hampton at around 5 o’clock Monday afternoon.

After a patrol car turned on its lights and sirens, a pursuit ensued, with Youngbear heading onto State Highway 3, weaving in and out of traffic at speeds of over 100 miles per hour, going through several stop signs. The pursuit continued onto 255th Street and onto US Highway 65 out to Interstate 35 north, where speeds reached up to 115 miles per hour, before it finally ended just south of Clear Lake.

Youngbear was charged with eluding and driving while barred.
