Awards presented at Clear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce annual meeting

CLEAR LAKE — The Clear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce held their annual meeting and awards ceremony on Tuesday at the new Clear Lake Athletic & Wellness Center. 

 

== Kingland was named as the Chamber’s “Business of the Year”. Established in 1992, the company helps the world’s largest and most complex companies manage data and comply with regulations. Their software is currently used by over 600,000 business users operating in 160 countries managing billions of data records. Kingland was recently named to the “Inc. 5000 Fastest-Growing Private Companies in America”.

 

== The “Larry Luker Volunteer of the Year” was presented to Rusty Olson for his selfless commitment to being the chair of the 4th of July Fireworks Committee.

 

== The “Education Partner of the Year” was presented to Dean Snyder Construction for their participation with the school district to offer a Carpentry Apprenticeship Program for high school students. 

 

== The “North Iowa Service Award” was presented to outgoing Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center director Tim Putnam, who was also the festival director for the Bicycles, Blues & BBQ event that drew visitors and bicycle racers from across the country to Clear Lake. 

 

== and the “First Mate of the Year” award was given to Alice Hanley. The First Mates are ambassadors of the Chamber who welcome new Chamber members, network with existing members and volunteer at events. Every year the First Mates vote to select a First Mate of the Year, with the winner demonstrating significant contributions to the Chamber during the preceding year both in attendance and engagement.
