An individual was hospitalized in Edmonton following an incident where a plane crashed and caught fire southeast of the city at Cooking Lake Airport in Strathcona County.
On Monday at 2:15 p.m., RCMP reported that Strathcona County officers were present at the site of the small plane accident, which also caused a small grass fire.
The pilot lost control while attempting to land, leading to the aircraft crashing.
Emergency teams at the location informed Global News that the pilot managed to exit the plane and reach safety before it became engulfed in flames, although he sustained burns during the escape.

STARS Air Ambulance confirmed that they flew a senior man to the University of Alberta Hospital, and AHS mentioned that he was in serious but stable condition.
An hour later, RCMP reported that Strathcona County firefighters had extinguished the grass fire.
The Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) stated that they were dispatching a team of investigators to examine the crash involving the privately registered small plane.
