Peel Regional Police have reported that a teenager was injured in a collision with a vehicle in a school parking lot on Monday morning.
According to authorities, the incident occurred at a school close to Tenth Line West and Trelawny Circle just after 8 a.m.
The police force stated that a 15-year-old boy was swiftly taken to a nearby hospital and is now being airlifted to a trauma center. Although his injuries are severe, the teen is conscious and breathing.
Parents have been informed by the police, but it remains unclear how the accident happened.
A representative from the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board informed Global News that the teenager, a freshman student, was hit while riding his bicycle on school premises.
The spokesperson mentioned that numerous students might have witnessed the incident or the response of the emergency services, as it took place shortly before the school day began.
“Given the circumstances, some individuals may find this distressing, and we have advised those in need of assistance to reach out to any member of the school’s administrative or student support services team,” stated the board’s representative.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with our student, hoping for a full recovery from his injuries.”
