UNIVERSITY PARK, PENNSYLVANIA — Iowa missed nine straight shots in the second overtime and suffered an ugly loss at Penn State last night as you heard on AM-1300 KGLO as the Nittany Lions posted a 90-86 win, avenging a 17 point loss in Iowa City. The Hawkeyes erased a late six point deficit and got a tip in at the buzzer from Keegan Murray just to force overtime.

That’s Iowa coach Fran McCaffery. Miles Dread rescued to Nittany Lions by hitting a three pointer to send it to the second overtime.

Connor McCaffery hit four first half three pointers to keep the Hawkeyes in the game before being injured in the second half.

The Hawkeyes are 4-6 in the Big Ten and visit Ohio State Thursday.

Tipoff on Thursday in Columbus is scheduled for 7 o’clock with a 6 o’clock pre-game on AM-1300 KGLO.

AMES — The 20th-ranked Iowa State Cyclones return to action at home by hosting 10th-ranked Kansas tonight. The Cyclones are 3-5 in the Big 12 and dropped a 62-61 heartbreaker in Lawrence back on January 11th.

That’s ISU coach T.J. Otzelberger who felt his team could have been better on defense late in the first meeting.

The Jayhawks enter after getting throttled at home by Kentucky 80-62.

The Cyclones have lost two home games in conference play and have dropped four of their last five in Hilton against KU.

IOWA CITY — A seven-game win streak for the Iowa Hawkeye women came to an end at home as the 21st-ranked Hawkeyes lost to 23rd-ranked Ohio State 92-88 last night. The Hawkeyes shot 62 percent but 14 turnovers proved costly.

That’s Iowa coach Lisa Bluder who was not happy with the physical nature of the game.

Bluder on the physical play.

Iowa falls to 8-2 in the Big Ten.
