A teenager who was arrested in connection with a fatal drive-by shooting in January has now been charged as an adult, according to reports.

Around 11:56 p.m. on Jan. 26, the police received a report of shots fired in the 5200 block of E. Kensington St.

Emoni Shears, 14, and Jhiquez Roberts, 19, entered a hospital and tragically passed away shortly after their arrival.

Elias Cerda, who was only 14 years old when the shooting took place, was apprehended a few days after the incident. Additionally, authorities took three other teenagers into custody in relation to the shooting.

Cerda faces two charges of first-degree murder and aggravated attempted robbery. His next hearing is set for January 6, and he is currently in custody with a $1 million bond.
