Over 20 people have been apprehended in a large-scale drug investigation that spans from West Virginia to Puerto Rico and Mexico.

The West Virginia State Police Martinsburg Bureau of Criminal Investigations Office and the Eastern Panhandle Drug and Violent Crime Task Force made multiple arrests and executed search warrants in Berkeley and Jefferson County on Tuesday. At the same time, other agencies assisted in targeting various locations for out-of-state targets and Puerto Rico.

In May 2021, the investigation commenced and covered a wide range of locations including West Virginia, Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, California, Puerto Rico, and Mexico.

As per the investigators, their inquiry led them to confiscate a total of four kilograms of cocaine, one and a half ounces of fentanyl, three and a half kilograms of pressed fentanyl, six hundred grams of heroin, two and a half kilograms of black tar heroin, one pound of crystal methamphetamine, and seventeen firearms.

On Thursday, the authorities confiscated more contrabands, including five ounces of cocaine, one ounce of marijuana, a considerable number of Xanax bars, around $4,000 in U.S. dollars, six firearms, two hundred rounds of pistol ammunition, and fifty rounds of .566 ammunition, and a drug press.

As of Thursday, the West Virginia State Police had arrested 22 out of the 25 suspects who were indicted.
