Meetings on Mason City-Clear Lake-Cerro Gordo County joint comprehensive plan next week

MASON CITY — The North Iowa Corridor Economic Development Corporation, the cities of Mason City and Clear Lake, as well as Cerro Gordo County are hosting a pair of public input sessions next week as the entities are working on a joint comprehensive plan for the county.

The new plan would set forth a vision and goals for the county’s future and provides an overall foundation for all land use regulation in the cities and the county.

County Planning & Zoning director John Robbins told the Board of Supervisors during a workshop session this week that they want people’s input as the comprehensive plan will help make zoning decisions county-wide in the future. “Every topic from development to renewable energy to transportation. We very much appreciate the input, and what we get from that we will implement into future zoning ordinance updates, capital improvement programs, things like that.”

The first meeting will take place on Wednesday December 7th at the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, with the Thursday December 8th meeting taking place at the Mason City Room of the Mason City Public Library.

The doors will open at both meetings at 5:00 PM, with a presentation and program from 5:30 to 6:30. People from across the county are welcome to attend either session.
