LI Man Charged with Assault and Robbery After Christmas Day Altercation

Long Island Man Arrested After Christmas Day Assault

A 36-year-old Long Island man was arrested on Christmas Day after allegedly hitting and choking another man during an argument, according to Nassau County police.

Officers responded to reports of an assault at a home on Clinton Avenue in Inwood around 2 a.m. The suspect, identified as Alan Garcia, had been engaged in a verbal dispute with a 26-year-old man.

The argument escalated into a physical confrontation, during which Garcia is accused of striking and choking the victim while forcibly removing his chain.

Upon arrival, police conducted an investigation, located Garcia, and took him into custody. He was transported to a local hospital for evaluation.

Garcia has been charged with second-degree robbery and criminal obstruction of breathing. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday in Hempstead.
