Law enforcement officials were involved in a standoff in McPherson County on Wednesday morning, which resulted in the closure of Inman schools for the day.

Viewers shared photos showing officers with guns drawn outside a residence near Inman High School. The response even included officers positioned on the roof of a nearby home.

In Inman, a small town located in the 300 block of South Maple, a disturbing incident unfolded. At approximately 5 a.m., law enforcement received a distressing report of gunshots being fired.

As a result, a precautionary measure was issued to instruct residents in the vicinity to seek shelter and remain indoors.

Upon arrival, officers from the McPherson County Sheriff’s Office observed a vehicle that displayed visible signs of damage caused by gunshots.

According to the sheriff’s office, there were no reported injuries in the incident. However, they did make an arrest and there are potential charges pending against a person of interest.

Early Wednesday morning, a resident of the neighborhood where the standoff occurred shared her firsthand account of what she observed and went through.

“I glanced out my back door and noticed the police officers near my shed. One of them motioned for me to turn around and go back. Without hesitation, I immediately went back downstairs,” she recalled.

“Seeing a house surrounded by law enforcement and knowing there was a shooter involved, with gunfire being exchanged, you just never know what to expect these days.”

The Inman police have stated that they are currently conducting an investigation into the events that occurred on Wednesday morning. However, they have assured the public that there is no danger or threat to their safety.

The McPherson County Sheriff’s Office has provided an update at 10:40 a.m., stating that they have successfully taken the person of interest in the incident into custody.

Law enforcement is currently working on clearing the scene, and as a result, individuals are kindly requested to steer clear of the area.

At 9:20 a.m., the McPherson County Sheriff’s Office and the Inman Police Department are currently addressing a situation involving shots being fired in the 300 block of South Maple Street in Inman.

Law enforcement officials on the scene have successfully secured the area, with emergency services providing assistance in the response, according to the sheriff’s office.

Please avoid the area and residents in the immediate vicinity are advised to shelter in place until further notice.

Inman schools are closed for the day.

There is currently an incident occurring near Inman High School, according to an employee from the Inman school district. However, it is important to note that the incident does not involve the school itself.

A viewer’s photograph captures a police officer with his gun drawn in close proximity to the school. The reason for the law enforcement presence in the area remains uncertain at this time.

Inman schools have implemented a two-hour delay, and district officials are currently holding a meeting with law enforcement to discuss the appropriate course of action.
