Houston Realtor Charged in $287K Loan Scheme

A Houston couple has accused a realtor of attempting to convince them to take out substantial loans for construction projects that were valued at more than the actual cost of the work.

According to the charging documents, a 33-year-old individual named Sali Rabah deceived an elderly couple into acquiring six loans from five different lenders, amounting to over $287,000.

Rabah has been arrested and is currently facing serious charges. Specifically, Rabah is charged with theft aggregate, which is classified as a first-degree felony, as well as exploitation of an elderly person, which is a third-degree felony. The alleged crime took place over a period of time between August and October of 2022.

During the court proceedings, it came to light that Rabah, an Israeli citizen, was purportedly the primary contracting agent for all six loans. According to the records presented in court, the market value of the couple’s home was $170,134, while an independent assessment indicated that the actual cost of the work done on the house should have been only $58,836.68.

Officials claim that there is video evidence demonstrating Rabah’s involvement in coaching and guiding the victims to accept the loan terms.

The judge in probable cause court has set her bond at $30,000 for the theft charge and $20,000 for the exploitation charge.
