Texas pays tribute to its veterans on Veteran’s Day, a special occasion dedicated to honoring and commemorating the brave individuals who have served our country. Throughout the state, various events and ceremonies are organized to celebrate the Texas veterans and their selfless contributions.

Austin:

Austin’s Veteran’s Day Parade

The parade will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Congress Avenue, from the bridge to the Capitol building, where a ceremony will be held to commemorate those who have served.

The Capitol’s south steps host a memorial ceremony after the march.

San Antonio:

Veterans Day Parade

The parade begins at noon in downtown Milam Park and travels down East Houston Street before ending near Travis Park.

The San Antonio Veterans Day Parade brings hundreds of people to see the colorful floats and military vehicles.

Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery

The event will begin at 9 a.m. at 1520 Harry Wurzbach Road. Fort Sam’s Mission Brass Quintet and Cole High School’s JROTC will provide music, while guest speakers will deliver remarks.

San Antonio National Cemetery

The Bexar County Buffalo Soldiers Association will host the event at San Antonio National Cemetery. The celebration starts at 1:30 p.m.

Dallas:

Greater Dallas Veterans Day Parade

The parade begins at 11 a.m. in Fair Park, the site of the State Fair. Several patriotic events will take place throughout the procession, including the 11th Hour Ceremony, a military flyover by the Missing Man Formation, and guest speakers.

Following the festivities, JROTC cadets from area high schools will perform the Massing of the Colors.

The parade begins at the intersection of Admiral Nimitz Circle and M.L. King Boulevard.

Plano Flags of Honor

The Plano East Rotary Club commemorates Veterans Day with an annual display of American flags. There will be more than 1,000 flags, each honoring a veteran or first responder.

Throughout the day, attendees can walk through the flags to capture photo opportunities. There will also be talks from veteran organizations, musical performances, a Quilts of Valor display, hot-air balloon flights, and other activities.

The event is free.
