25 new COVID-19 cases in area, while 39 more fully recovered

MASON CITY — 25 new cases of COVID-19 have been identified in the listening area with 39 more people having recovered.

Looking at the time period between midday Sunday and 11 o’clock this morning, 15 new cases were identified in Cerro Gordo County; three in Wright; two each in Floyd and Hancock; with single cases in Butler, Winnebago and Worth counties. Franklin County had a case previously identified in their county reidentified to another county.

That brings the total number of coronavirus cases in our listening area since the pandemic started to 962 — 385 in Wright; 181 in Cerro Gordo; 90 in Franklin; 75 in Floyd; 56 in Butler; 54 in Hancock; 37 in Mitchell; 35 in Kossuth; 29 in Winnebago; and 20 in Worth.

28 of the 39 people recovered were in Cerro Gordo; six in Wright; two in Floyd; and single cases in Franklin, Hancock and Winnebago. 15 area people as of July 4th are hospitalized due to COVID-19, down from 20 on July 1st.

Good Shepherd Health Center in Mason City continues to report a long-term care facility outbreak with 29 positive cases and 11 having totally recovered.

Looking at the statewide numbers between midday Sunday and 11 o’clock this morning: 413 new cases were identified to bring the total up to 31,656; no new deaths were reported, with the death total staying at 721; 287 more people have recovered to bring the total to 24,958.
