16-year-old arrested in connection with Spring Hill teen’s death

Authorities are actively investigating the death of a 15-year-old Spring Hill High School student, while a 16-year-old has been arrested in connection with the incident.

The investigation began early Wednesday morning when a 911 call was placed for assistance. Deputies from the Miami County Sheriff’s Office arrived at a residence near West 231 Terrace and Lewis Drive, where they discovered the 15-year-old’s body inside the home.

As a precaution, emergency crews transported a 16-year-old from Olathe to the hospital. Upon further investigation, deputies discovered evidence at the scene that raised suspicions about the circumstances surrounding the teenager’s death.

The 16-year-old was taken into custody at the hospital and transported to a juvenile detention facility.

While the names of the involved individuals have not been made public due to their ages, investigators confirmed that both teens are students in the Spring Hill School District.
