Suspect in South Carolina Homicide Taken Into Custody in Mississippi

GREENWOOD COUNTY, SC (WSPA) – A suspect in a fatal shooting has been apprehended in a different state, according to Greenwood Police.

The suspect, identified as 29-year-old Guillermo Hernandez Garcia, was involved in a fatal shooting earlier today at a residence on Sumter Street. Authorities reported that an argument between Garcia and his girlfriend escalated, during which Garcia pulled a gun and fatally shot his girlfriend before fleeing the scene.

Greenwood Police confirmed that Garcia was arrested in Mississippi and is currently in custody. He faces charges of murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.

The victim has been identified as 23-year-old Nayeli Guerrero. Her death is being investigated as a homicide, and an autopsy has been scheduled.
