Mississippi deputies arrest man in stolen U-Haul recovered on interstate

A suspect was arrested on Saturday morning after Mississippi deputies conducted a traffic stop on I-20 and successfully recovered a stolen U-Haul box truck.

The Rankin County Sheriff’s Department was alerted around 9:30 a.m. regarding a potential stolen U-Haul heading westbound from Scott County into Rankin County. Deputies promptly issued a BOLO (be on the lookout) alert in their efforts to locate the vehicle.

Jessie Lee Dennis Jr. was apprehended by deputies after they spotted a stolen truck near the 56-mile marker on I-20 westbound and initiated a traffic stop.

On December 11, the Capitol City Improvement District reported the theft of the U-Haul. The Capitol Police were then informed about the recovery of the vehicle.

Dennis was accused of receiving stolen property and was taken to the Rankin County Detention Center. The authorities have set his bond at $25,000.

The authorities continue to investigate the matter.
