NYPD Investigates Deadly Wrong-Way Multi-Car Crash in Flatlands

A deadly multi-car crash left one driver dead and another injured on Friday night in Brooklyn’s Flatlands neighborhood, according to the NYPD.

The collision occurred outside 3405 Kings Highway. Investigators say that the driver of a blue Ford was driving the wrong way on Avenue M when they collided with a 47-year-old woman in a white Toyota who was driving westbound on Kings Highway.

The driver of the blue Ford was pronounced dead at the scene, while the woman in the white Toyota was treated for minor injuries. Authorities confirmed that no arrests have been made at this time.

Longtime local resident Frank Ritacco described crashes on Kings Highway as far too common. “It’s always been bad here for many years,” Ritacco said. “All the roads around this circle have been redone to avoid these accidents, but there’s never going to be a 100% way to avoid them.”
