Missouri Driver Arrested for DUI After Crash While Towing Boat in Kansas

Police apprehended a driver following a crash in Cowley County early Friday morning. Around 3:30 a.m., officers from the Arkansas City Police Department were dispatched to investigate a collision on the 1400 block of North Summit Street in Arkansas City, according to a media statement.

At the scene, officers found a pickup truck that had left the road, struck a utility pole, and sustained extensive damage. The vehicle was towing a small boat at the time of the crash, and the utility pole was also significantly damaged.

The driver, identified as 65-year-old Jeffrey Scott Brown of Moberly, Missouri, was walking near the accident site when officers arrived. The Arkansas City Fire/EMS Department also responded to the scene to address safety concerns posed by the damaged pole and vehicle.

After completing their investigation, police arrested Brown on charges of Driving Under the Influence and Transporting an Open Container. He was transported to the Cowley County Jail and is currently being held on a $750 bond.

Evergy was notified about the utility pole damage, and crews have temporarily secured it. Replacement work is scheduled for Monday, according to police officials.
