A traffic stop in Pontotoc County, Mississippi, led to the arrest of a man and the confiscation of over 600 pounds of drugs worth more than $1 million.

On Sunday evening, the Pontotoc County Sheriff’s Department reported that this incident occurred on Interstate 22.

Law enforcement officers recently made a traffic stop and discovered marijuana and other narcotics in a van, according to WTVA News.

The suspect in question, identified as Almas Bekzhanov, a 39-year-old individual from Kazakhstan, has been charged with trafficking a controlled substance, according to Pontotoc County Sheriff Leo Mask.

According to the sheriff, Bekzhanov was residing in the country without legal authorization, prompting the sheriff’s department to inform U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
