Mississippi drivers have been requested to remain vigilant as an exit ramp on Interstate 55 is set to close for a period of up to 60 days. It is advised to allocate extra driving time and be ready to choose an alternative route.

On Monday, August 12th, at 6 a.m., the Mississippi Department of Transportation will be shutting down the I-55 southbound exit ramp to Nissan Parkway in Madison County.

Crews will work on a bridge preservation project, which requires the closure of the exit ramp.

According to the latest updates, the exit ramp is scheduled to be closed for a maximum of 60 days. The authorities have tentatively set the reopening date for October 11.

Drivers heading southbound will be notified of the closure and detour with visible signs. The detour will redirect traffic to exit at Sowell Road and take I-55 north, leading back to Nissan Parkway.

It is recommended that drivers reduce their speed, factor in extra travel time during the period of closure, and be attentive to detour signs.
