Couple Found Dead in Apparent Murder-Suicide in Tunica, Mississippi

Authorities in Tunica County, Mississippi, are investigating a tragic incident that left a husband and wife dead in what appears to be a murder-suicide.

According to the Tunica County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO), deputies responded to a call for medical assistance at a residence in Tunica around 4:40 p.m. on Sunday, December 8. Upon arrival, they discovered the bodies of Lonnie Nelson Jr., 52, and his wife, Vickie Lane Nelson, 53, both of whom had sustained fatal gunshot wounds.

Two firearms were recovered from the scene and have been sent for forensic testing, TCSO confirmed. Preliminary findings suggest the deaths resulted from a murder-suicide.

The sheriff’s office is asking anyone with information about this incident or other fatal shootings to contact them at 662-363-1411.
