In Dutchtown, a 40-year-old man has been charged with the murder of his girlfriend on Friday, as reported by First Alert 4 from St. Louis, MO.

Prosecutors in St. Louis have pressed charges against Derrick A. Smith, a resident of the city, for first-degree murder, armed criminal action, and unlawful possession of a firearm. The victim, who has not been publicly identified, was 38 years old at the time of their death.

At present, Smith is being held at the St. Louis Justice Center without any chance of being released on bond. There has been no announcement regarding his first court appearance.

St. Louis Metropolitan Police reported that they received a call at approximately 2:30 p.m. on Friday regarding an incident at the shared residence of the victim and Smith located on the 5000 block of Alaska Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim deceased inside the residence.

Upon arriving at the scene, authorities placed Smith under arrest and collected a firearm and shell casing as evidence. It was reported that there were no indications of forced entry into the home.
