Lenexa police conduct coordinated operation resulting in 33 arrests prior to Christmas

The Lenexa Police Department recently carried out a well-coordinated operation in Lenexa to tackle the issue of retail theft during the days leading up to Christmas.

The operation involved the collaborative efforts of various units, including the K9 Unit, Bike Unit, Directed Patrol Unit, Uniform Patrol, and Dispatch.

The police department utilized both undercover and uniformed officers, with a specific focus on high-traffic shopping areas near W. 95th Street and Quivira.

In total, there were 33 arrests made for various charges, including the following:

    • theft
    • felony theft
    • possession of stolen property
    • possession of narcotics including cocaine, fentanyl and meth
    • possession of a firearm by a felon
    • possession of a stolen vehicle

A group suspected of being involved with an organized crime ring was among those arrested. Authorities discovered over $13,000 worth of stolen merchandise in their vehicle. Furthermore, several individuals were taken into custody due to outstanding warrants.
