Kansas City Police Reclassify 7-Month-Old’s Death as Homicide

Kansas City Police Investigating 7-Month-Old’s Death as Homicide

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City Police Department has confirmed that the death of 7-month-old Giovanni Carr is now being investigated as a homicide.

Giovanni, born on November 2, 2023, was found unresponsive at a home in the 5300 block of Olive Street on June 15. At the time, investigators noted that the infant had suffered significant physical trauma. He passed away five days later at a hospital.

Initially, the death was treated as suspicious, but on Monday, authorities received notification from medical examiners who ruled the death a homicide based on their findings.

Police have identified all individuals involved in the case. Detectives are now working to submit the case file to prosecutors in the coming days for consideration of potential charges.
