In remembrance of Memphis police officer Demetrice Johnson, the flags will fly at half-staff until sunset.

In a tragic incident that occurred in downtown Memphis, two individuals lost their lives in a fatal crash. One of the victims was identified as a police officer. The crash happened in early August.
Around 3 a.m., officers were called to the scene of a two-vehicle crash at Mississippi Boulevard and Danny Thomas Boulevard. Upon arrival, they found a gray Nissan and a Memphis Police squad car involved in the collision.
According to the MPD, their initial investigation found that the driver of the gray Nissan had suffered a gunshot wound during a disagreement with another individual on South Parkway East and Mississippi Boulevard before the collision with the patrol car.
