A contracting company in the Tulsa area is now facing serious legal charges. The Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Unit conducted an investigation, which has led to the contractor being charged with 17 counts of felony embezzlement and one count of engaging in a pattern of criminal offenses. This is a significant development in the case.

Todd Douglas Briggs, the owner of T Briggs Construction and Oasis Pools and Outdoor Living, has been charged in Creek County for alleged fraudulent activities. According to the charges filed yesterday, Briggs is accused of accepting over $1.2 million from 17 customers for home or pool construction projects that were never completed. Furthermore, he is also accused of failing to pay subcontractors for their services.

“I am fully dedicated to ensuring that those who engage in deceptive business practices to exploit hardworking Oklahomans are held responsible,” expressed Drummond. “I am grateful for the diligent efforts of the attorneys, investigators, and staff in the Consumer Protection Unit as we strive to bring justice to the families who have been taken advantage of.”

In July 2023, Briggs shocked his customers by announcing that he was declaring bankruptcy. This came as a surprise, especially since he had recently received significant payments from several clients. Unfortunately, as a result of his bankruptcy, many customers were left with unfinished projects, and unpaid subcontractors placed liens against their homes. This unfortunate situation impacted consumers in Tulsa, Jenks, Broken Arrow, Owasso, Collinsville, Sapulpa, Bixby, and Beggs.

If you think you may have fallen victim to contractor fraud, Drummond advises reaching out to the Consumer Protection Unit at 1-833-681-1895 or Oklahoma.gov/oag.
