Arrest Made in Connection with Alleged Neck Slashing Incident Resulting in Attempted Murder

On Tuesday, between noon and 1:30 p.m., Jayson Nung Alexander Adams of Salina was identified by SPD officers as the suspect in the attack. Adams, 21 years old, has been arrested and charged with attempted second-degree murder.

According to Capt. David Villanueva of the SPD, the term “attempted” is mentioned in the official documentation provided to the Sheriff’s Office. However, it may not always be included in public records like the blotter, which can lead to confusion regarding the nature of the charge.

According to Villanueva, when the charge is entered, the term “attempted” is not included in the blotter report. Instead, it states the specific crime, such as murder or homicide, without indicating that it was an attempted crime.

The report accurately reflects the crime and the person responsible for the change. When submitting the report to the Sheriff’s Office, there is a checkbox to indicate that the crime was attempted, and this information is then included in the booking process.

According to SPD, the victim, who suffered serious injuries, received medical treatment at Salina Regional Health Center and was subsequently discharged.

The motive behind the attack remains unknown as SPD officers have not yet determined why it occurred. When questioned, the victim was unable to provide an explanation for Adams’ sudden aggression. This leaves many unanswered questions that will likely be addressed during the court proceedings.
