Anticipating Cold Front and Chilly New Year’s Day in Southeast Texas

Houston, TX – Get ready for a change in weather as a cold front is set to move through Southeast Texas overnight.

After a pleasantly warm Monday with temperatures reaching the mid-70s, cooler temperatures are on the horizon for the rest of the week. Keep an eye out for patchy fog overnight, which could affect visibility for commuters on Monday morning.

According to the National Weather Service, the temperature on Monday is forecasted to reach a high of around 76°F.

However, there will be a significant drop in temperature as a cold front moves through late Monday night and early Tuesday morning.

By Tuesday morning, temperatures are expected to dip into the mid-40s. Breezy winds will also contribute to cooler conditions throughout the day.

On New Year’s Day, we can expect sunny skies with a high temperature reaching around 60°F. The winds will be calm, creating pleasant conditions for outdoor activities.

As the evening approaches, temperatures will drop to the low 40s, making it a chilly but dry night for those celebrating outdoors.

However, drivers should remain cautious as fog may develop again on Wednesday night, potentially reducing visibility on major roads like I-10 and I-45.

Rain is expected to make a comeback on Thursday evening through Friday morning, bringing with it a 30% chance of showers.

The temperature will stay in the low 60s over the weekend. It would be wise for residents to have an umbrella ready and stay updated on any changes in the weather.

Be mindful of decreased visibility when commuting during the overnight and early-morning hours, and adjust your plans accordingly.

If you’re hosting outdoor New Year’s celebrations, take comfort in the fact that the weather will be cooler but dry, creating ideal conditions.
