Naseem Isaiah Roulack will face an additional three years in state custody for his escape in 2023.
Roulack pleaded guilty during his Henrico County Circuit Court appearance on November 26. A judge sentenced him to five more years, with two suspended.
Roulack escaped police detention while visiting a hospital in August 2023.
Roulack fled from the Bon Secours St. Mary’s Hospital shortly before 6 a.m., dressed in a hospital gown and without shoes.
Following an internal inquiry, the Virginia Department of Corrections revealed that the officers assigned to supervise Roulack were asleep when he escaped. He was able to escape because he wore nylon flex-cuffs around his wrists and ankles. The doctors placed these on Roulack so they could perform an MRI.
In August, both officers charged with supervising Roulack resigned.
Detectives identified Roulack as a suspect in a carjacking in Montgomery County following his escape. According to detectives, after midnight on September 1, Roulack approached a woman on Deer Park Road, held her at gunpoint, and demanded her vehicle.
During the carjacking, he reportedly instructed the victim to get into the vehicle. Once the woman was in the car, Roulack drove several blocks before telling her to get out.
Roulack was serving a 13-year sentence for malicious wounding, grand larceny, and hit-and-run when he escaped.
With the latest accusations, Roulack will now serve a total of 16 years in prison.
